BB8 is the cutest droid in the galaxy. And he just so happens to be an easy shape for a paper plate craft.

Even if your child is a preschooler who doesn’t know what Star Wars is even about, they’ll enjoy making a cute robot.

Here’s how to make your own BB8 with paper plates and a free printable so you don’t have to stress about all the little details.

If you haven’t seen the new episodes of Star Wars, what are you doing? They’re on Disney Plus. Get on it.

I loved the newest movies. Obviously they aren’t as good as the original trilogy, but they’re much better than the second trilogy.

BB8 is probably my favorite of the new characters.

Rey is pretty awesome but BB8 is like a robot puppy. So cute.

Here’s how to make him:

Craft Supplies Needed:

2 paper plates (per project)

Glue

Scissors

Popsicle stick (if desired)

How to Make a Paper Plate BB8 Craft:

Step 1:

First you’ll need to print out the free printable of the details that go on his body.

You can cut them out for your child or if they’re old enough, let them practice their scissor skills.

Step 2:

Next, cut one paper plate in half.

Step 3:

Trim one half of the paper plate to just the inner circle. You don’t need the rim.

Discard the other pieces of the paper plate.

Step 4:

Decorate both paper plates with the printable details.

Use glue to attach them. Glue sticks work well for little kids like toddlers.

Don’t worry if you don’t get the pieces in the perfect spot. It’s just fun to make.

I always have to tell my four year old “it doesn’t have to be perfect.” She’s a perfectionist already.

Step 5:

Glue the two paper plates together at the edge so his head is on his body.

Step 6:

Glue or tape a Popsicle stick to the plate if you want to make it into a puppet or have an easy handle to hold it with.

You don’t need a Popsicle stick if you don’t have any on hand.

You could also use it to stick into a cake as a cake topper or something else that will hold it up.

Step 7:

Don’t forget to let the glue dry before you hang it up or let your child play with it as a puppet.
