Christmas Bucket List for Families

{ Guest Post by Amy at The Postpartum Party }

The Christmas season is a magical one indeed. I love stretching Christmas out so it lasts throughout the month of December, and not just one big day.

Part of the fun in celebrating Christmas is celebrating all season long by doing different Christmas activities together as a family.

There are plenty of ways to countdown to Christmas including Advent calendars and Christmas countdowns.

I love making new traditions each year. Some of our favorites include getting a new Christmas ornament each year and putting our tree up the day after Thanksgiving.

This year, we wanted to try something new so we made a Christmas bucket list.

Think of it like your Christmas to-do list, with all of the fun activities, and none of the obligatory ones that you’re trying to avoid (cleaning up pine needles under the tree, anyone?).

You can print the Christmas Bucket List at home and do a new Christmas activity every couple of days.

There are 18 festive activities total so spread them out however you want.

Some are simple Christmas activities that you can do at home like “drink hot cocoa”. While others like “shop for your siblings” will require a little more time and effort to pick out the perfect gift while braving the holiday crowds!

Each activity is designed to get you and your family in the holiday spirit of giving and spending quality time with those you love.

Start at the top of the list or choose activities at random. Your kids will love going through and completing each item off your Christmas bucket list!

  • Write a letter to Santa
  • Look at Christmas lights

  • Make gingerbread houses
  • Watch Christmas movies
  • Buy a toy for someone in need
  • Sing Christmas carols
  • Drink hot cocoa
  • Go ice skating
  • Make paper snowflakes
  • Shop for your siblings
  • Build a snowman
  • Take treats to friends

  • Do a random act of kindness

How to Download the Christmas Bucket List

  1. Click here to get the PDF
  2. Print it on 8.5 x 11” paper. I like to use cardstock so it’s a little sturdier.
  3. Hang the Christmas bucket list in your house and decide which activities you want to do first.
  4. You can do one activity every couple of days or tackle several in a weekend. However you decide to spend time as a family doing Christmas activities is great!
  5. Check off each box as you complete the Christmas activity.
  6. Make sure to finish each item and check them all off before Christmas day.
  7. Enjoy completing your Christmas bucket list and Happy Holidays!

I love these ideas for Christmas activities! We definitely need to try making a gingerbread house this year. I think my daughter is old enough to try it now.
