Back in the day, scrapbooks were all the rage. Now we’re all too busy to deal with that.
Luckily, the new thing is keepsake books! They’re either filled with prompts or even just fill in the blanks for busy moms like me.
I’ve always loved going back through my old books that my mom put together for me so I’m writing in a few of these in hopes that Toot will also enjoy looking back on our lives.
Here are 7 awesome keepsake books that I’ve found!

1. Memories and Messages from a Mother: A Family Keepsake
I have this keepsake book, and it is the easiest way to write out your life story for your child.
It’s basically a fill in the blank book. It starts at the beginning with basic info like name, birthday, family tree, and even fun stuff like nicknames and stories from your childhood.
It also has sections on how I met your father and what I did for a living.
I’m still working on filling mine in. I’d like to fill it all out now while I’m 30 so I can give it to her when she’s 30.
It would almost be like This is Us in the sense that we’re seeing the kids and the parents at the same age.
I’d like for her to read about my life at 30 while she’s the same age to compare and contrast.
2. Letters to My Baby: Write Now. Read Later. Treasure Forever.
I received this book of letters as a baby shower gift. It’s probably my favorite keepsake book ever.
Each letter folds out and has a prompt like “the day you were born.”
But it’s not just about the first year. There are prompts for things that can be filled in at anytime during childhood and a few blank letters that you can write anything in.
Each letter is sealed with a “postal” sticker. It’s pretty cute.
We’re planning to give this one to her on her 18th birthday.
3. A Mother’s Legacy: Your Life Story in Your Own Words
Here’s another book where you can write your own story for your child to read.
It has a 12 month format where each month gives you 12 questions to answer.
This one is for longer written answers. The one I have is short and even has check boxes for some things.
If you’d like to be more thorough with your writing, this one is a better choice for you.
4. For My Children: A Mother’s Journal of Memories, Wishes and Wisdom
This keepsake book is more about answering questions about motherhood and providing advice.
It would make a great baby shower gift for your child.
5. Mom’s One Line a Day: A Five-Year Memory Book
This is such a cool concept.
If you’re like me and too lazy to write out baby books, this is one line a day. For 5 years, you can fill in one line per day about everyday motherhood.
The format isn’t what you would expect. Each page has a day on it, but it has space for every year.
So when you go back to read it, you can read all five January 29th’s on one page. Kind of like Facebook’s On This Day or Timehop!
6. My Quotable Kid: A Parents’ Journal of Unforgettable Quotes
You obviously won’t be able to use this one from birth.
But once your kid learns how to talk, I’ve heard they say the darnedest things.
You won’t want to forget the funny things your kid says. You can keep them all in this book for them to read later.
We’re hoping to start with this book soon. She’s just now starting to say sentences.
7. Your Birthday Book: A Keepsake Journal
Wouldn’t it be cool to have a scrapbook of all of your birthdays from 1-18? This book is the easiest way to do it!
There are fill in the blanks about the birthday parties, an interview of your kid, and other fun stuff like spaces for photos.
My mom kind of did something like this for me, but she made it from scratch.
This book would be so much easier!

What a great list! We received the Letters to my Baby book when our second was born. I’m planning on writing letters geared towards both my kids. Hopefully, I’ll get them done in the next 18 years!

Yeah I only have 2 done so far but she’s not even 2 yet so I’m going to try and space them out. Or I’m just procrastinating. Lol

Great list! I have the birthday one and I love it. I can’t wait to fill it out for his second birthday next month! I also loved the author’s first year and belly book. The three combined are a great set!
