KidloLand provided me with a free 6-month subscription to their app in exchange for an honest review. They’re also graciously letting me give away 3-month subscriptions to 5 lucky winners!
What is KidloLand?
KidloLand is an app for babies, toddlers, and preschoolers with lots of nursery rhymes, educational songs, and interactive videos. There are also a few little games and activities. Each section of the app has several different interactive videos with songs about the theme. Anything your child touches on the screen will do something. If they poke an animal it may dance, fall over, or make a noise. Everything is interactive.
The app is free and comes with a few free sections, but to really get the full experience, you can subscribe for $4.99/month, $24.99/6 months or the best value: $39.99/year.
How did Toot like it?
Toot wasn’t so sure about it at first. She hasn’t had much interaction with the tablet before finding KidloLand. Once I showed her how it worked and assured her that it was actually okay to hold the tablet, she was much more comfortable with it. She was content just watching the little moving characters and listening to the songs. She didn’t try and poke at them at first. I gave her the tablet the next day, and she was ready to interact with the cars and the trucks. She discovered that she was making them go.
Her final verdict? She likes it. She will now pick up the tablet and bring it to me when she wants to play. Her favorite sections are the vehicles, colors, and dinos.
How did Mom like it?
First, a tip for other moms: download everything before you hand it to your kid. The kid isn’t going to want to wait for the sets to download. I downloaded all of the packages immediately.
I liked that she liked it. And I think my favorite part was that it was educational and taught her numbers, shapes, colors, and the alphabet. Anything that can teach her something is a-okay in my book. I do think she’s a little young for the games and activities. She’s only 14 months. The games seem like they’re more for the preschool crowd.
Another cool feature: it will automatically continue from one song to the next in the series so you aren’t stuck listening to the same song over and over. (Unless your kid is smart enough to go back to the menu and choose it again.) I can’t tell you how many songs get stuck in my head from her toys and TV shows. The fact that it doesn’t keep playing the same song is amazing for Mom.
My final verdict? Yes. I would recommend it. It’s handy to keep your kid entertained in the car, while you’re cooking dinner, or when Mommy just needs some time to herself. It’s also fun to play with her. My favorite sections are the months of the year, fruits, and colors.
